In tropical butterfly gardens you can photograph amazing insect, like this Catonephele Numilia.
During the dark days there are hardly any insects to photograph. One way to solve this is to visit one of the many covered butterfly gardens that exist. I went to the Orchideeënhoeve in the Netherlands which has many tropical butterflies and wrote an article about it. In it I show some of the shots I took, and I also give advise on how to behave, how to prepare you camera for the humid conditions, and how to take the best butterfly shots.
