Hatching eggs

In the summer I shot some hatching bug eggs. It is hard to identify such young nymphs, but in the end it turned out to be Hairy Shieldbugs.

I took this shot back in July, but at that moment I did not pay much attention to it. Recently, when going through all my bug shots of the past year, I found it again and was wondering what bugs these were. The identification apps were not certain. So I asked on the Dutch Facebook group on insects. Here there are some specialist and they pointed out that these were probably Brown Marmorated Stink Bugs. In the Netherlands they are still listed as very rare though. After further study it turned out they were Hairy Shieldbugs instead, which are more common.

I like this shot because it is sort of special. These nymphs tend to stay together while the eggs are still hatching. Only after a while they all go their own way. Probably that protects them better from predators.
