Taking shots of balls in the Christmas tree with reflecting light is difficult for the autofocus of the camera. But sometimes failure results in an interesting image.
I was trying to photograph some balls in a Christmas tree that had interesting reflecting lights in it. But a big problem is that you always get a reflection of yourself or your camera in the ball. So I was playing with the apertures, focus distance and depth of field. At some moment, this produced the image above that was completely out of focus, but did show a wonderful bokeh of the reflecting lights. It adds some mystery to the shot, while it still maintains the global shape of the ball.
